A little bit about doggy bed & biscuit daycare

Our Daycare Adventures!

We absolutely adore spending our days with our furry daycare friends, and we do everything we can to ensure each dog has a fantastic time! Some pups thrive on playtime with their buddies, while others prefer a cozy moment with their favorite toys. We even have our water-loving friends who can barely contain their excitement when the hose and pools come out! And let’s not forget the cuddle enthusiasts who just want to snuggle with our pawsome team members!

Playground Fun!

From October to April, we make the most of our fun-tastic playground paddock! While we strive to get outside every day, weather and other conditions can sometimes keep us indoors. Our dogs absolutely know and love the playground, but for everyone’s safety, all daycare pups must meet our behaviour expectations to join in on the fun.

We organise our playground time into small sessions tailored to different personalities, with five delightful groups: The Busy Bees, Mischievous Monkeys, Outgoing Otters, Happy Hedgehogs, and The Tiny Turtles! These groups are primarily based on size and play style/temperament. Some dogs may switch groups depending on their friends or specific needs.

Keeping It Engaging!

Our mornings are packed with exciting social interactions and playful activities, followed by toy time and enrichment games that stimulate their minds. Many dogs eagerly await their turn at the gate when they see us setting up these fun challenges! If you’d like to learn more about our enrichment activities, just let us know—we’d love to share our insights! Thank you for being part of our vibrant daycare community!

Hours & holidays

We are open Monday to Friday, from 7am to 6pm.

We kindly ask that all dogs arrive by around 9:30 AM so we can kick off our daily activities and ensure everyone is ready to join in on the fun! This helps us minimise disruptions, as late arrivals (after 10 AM) may miss out on some of our socialising activities and other exciting events.

Pick-ups typically begin around 3 PM, coinciding with school pick-up times. We’re very flexible with early pick-ups, as many of our pups are happy to head home after a busy day. Our afternoons are often filled with cozy cuddles, enrichment games, and relaxation, so feel free to pick them up early without any guilt!

Please note that we close on public holidays and take a two-week break over the Christmas and New Year holidays, as most of our dogs spend this time at home or away with you.

PRICING & PAYMENTS

Many of our regular customers set up automatic payments for convenience.

We happily accept cash and online bank transfers. transfers.Bank

Bank Account Number: 12-3268-0101623-00
Please use your dog's first and last name as a reference.

We charge weekly based on our daily rates, and if your dog joins us more frequently, the rate will decrease!

Casual Charges:
For dogs that visit casually, the first day of the week is billed at our casual daily rate. Any additional days that week will be charged at our regular daily rates. The casual rate helps accommodate dogs who may need a little extra time to settle back in and adjust to our routines and their furry friends.

Thank you for being part of our Doggy BnB Furamily!

Bookings, cancellations & late fees

As we operate on a regular booking system, most of our spaces fill up quickly each day.

We do keep a few spots available for casual bookings, but these can get snapped up early in the week. If you’re hoping to add an extra day for your pup, please let us know in advance!

If your dog will be away on any booked days, we kindly ask that you inform us ahead of time. We often have other furry friends eager to fill those spots! Due to our full schedule, late cancellations or no-shows will incur cancellation fees. Please note that changing your booked day may also result in fees if done at late notice.

To avoid cancellation fees, we require 24 hours' notice for any changes.

Cancellation Fee: $20.00
(This applies if notice is given after 12 PM the day before or on the day of the booking.)
This policy also applies when swapping booked days; you’ll still be charged a cancellation fee if you cancel within 24 hours, even if you plan to come later in the week.

Thank you for your understanding! If you have any questions or need to make changes to your bookings, please don’t hesitate to reach out via text or call at 027 399 0552.

Some of the super im-paw-tent but not so fun things:

Vaccinations

We’d love to keep your pup safe and healthy, so please remember to update us when your dog receives their yearly vaccinations! You can easily send a photo of the vaccination page from your vet book to ambra@doggybnb.co.nz, or feel free to bring the book in for us to see. Thank you for helping us keep our furry friends protected!

Kennel Cough

Our furry friends need their yearly Kennel Cough vaccinations to join the fun at daycare, so it’s essential to keep them updated! Unfortunately, this pesky virus can pop up annually (or even more frequently), much like the common cold. It's highly contagious and can spread easily in busy places like daycares and dog parks, often before any symptoms show.

To keep our pack healthy, we kindly ask you to be on the lookout for these telltale signs:

  • A honking or hacking cough (think of it as a doggy's version of clearing their throat)

  • Sneezing (those adorable little "achoos!")

  • A runny nose (time for doggy tissues!)

  • Loss of appetite (when even their favourite treats don't tempt them)

If you notice any of these symptoms, please let us know and keep your pup home for some R&R. Remember, sharing isn't always caring when it comes to germs! By working together, we can keep our Doggy BnB a happy, healthy place for all our four-legged friends!

Fleas and Worms

Please make sure your dog is up to date with their flea and worming treatments! We recommend coordinating these treatments with any other pets in your household for maximum effectiveness. That’s why we suggest all our daycare pups receive their treatments at the beginning of each month. Keeping everyone on the same schedule helps ensure a happy, healthy pack!

Papillomas

Heads up, pet parents! There's another sneaky virus that your furry friends can get: Papillomas, also known as the "mouth warts" of the doggy world.

These pesky little bumps are highly contagious but usually just a minor nuisance. They're like the chicken pox of the canine kingdom - younger pups are more likely to catch them on their first exposure. The good news? Their bodies should fight off the infection, building up immunity for future encounters.

Unfortunately, these warts are master hide-and-seek players. With their long incubation period, they're tricky to spot early on, making it challenging to prevent them from sneaking into daycare. If you have any questions about these mischievous mouth guests, don't hesitate to chat with your vet. We're all in this together to keep our furry friends happy and healthy!

Stomach Bugs and Upset Stomachs

If your dog has an upset stomach - especially if it shows up in their bathroom habits or if they’ve had a bout of vomiting - we kindly ask that they stay home and keep us updated on how they’re feeling. This helps us prevent any pesky bugs from spreading to their furry friends at daycare. Thank you for helping us keep our pack healthy and happy!

Nails

Long, sharp nails can be a bit of a hazard for our team and during playtime with other dogs. While many pups enjoy regular grooming, they sometimes come back with nails that still need a trim. To keep everyone safe and happy, we recommend maintaining those nails at an optimal length!

We offer nail clipping at daycare for just $10. If you’d like us to take care of your dog’s nails, just let us know! Please keep in mind that some dogs aren’t fans of having their nails trimmed, so we want to ensure they’re comfortable with the process.

If we notice that your dog’s nails are too long or sharp, don’t be offended if we send a little note home requesting a trim. It’s all about keeping our team and furry friends safe and sound! Thank you for your understanding!

Desexing dogs

At Doggy Bed & Biscuit, we're all about creating a pawsitively fun and playful environment for our furry friends!

However, sometimes those pesky hormones can throw a wrench in the works for both our boy and girl pups.

In our exciting daycare atmosphere, with all its enticing smells and high energy, hormones can sometimes kick into overdrive. This is especially true for our intact male friends, who might become a bit too... enthusiastic about their playmates.

These hormonal hijinks can lead to some of our boy dogs becoming overly focused on their furry friends, which can put a damper on everyone's social time. We do our best to ensure all pups are having a blast and playing well together, but occasionally we need to play referee and separate some dogs to keep the peace.

If you have any questions about your dog's behavior at daycare, please don't hesitate to chat with us. We're always happy to give you the scoop on how your pup is doing in our care.

And a special note for our lady dogs: when they start their "special time" (heat cycle), we kindly ask that they take a four-week vacation from daycare. If you have any questions about this, please let us know!

dog lunches

Our puppies and dogs who need a little extra fuel during the day bring their own lunches when they join us.

To help protect our environment, we kindly ask that all food is packed in a named lunch box or container. This helps us reduce plastic waste and keeps our daycare eco-friendly.

minor incidents

At Doggy Bed & Biscuit, we closely monitor our furry friends throughout the day, but despite our best efforts, minor incidents can occasionally occur.

Dogs are naturally playful and sometimes their excitement can lead to unexpected bumps and scrapes.

Canines are adept at hiding minor injuries, and their play can sometimes escalate without us noticing. From playful jumps and runs to the occasional paw swipe or nip during games of fetch, various factors contribute to their interactions, depending on the dogs and their playgroups.

We take every precaution to minimise the risk of injuries and incidents, and we will always inform you of any issues we observe during the day. If we happen to overlook something, please don’t hesitate to reach out and let us know. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us improve our care and maintain a safe environment for all our four-legged friends.

DOG CAREGIVER INFORMATION

If your dog will be in the care of someone else while you’re away, we kindly ask that you provide their contact details in case we need to reach them.

We have a contact sheet available for you to fill out anytime—just ask for one or feel free to text us!

As a reminder, we understand that dogs may behave differently at daycare compared to how you know them at home or in social settings. This variation can be influenced by the daycare environment, interactions with other dogs, the games we play, and their comfort levels. This is completely normal, so please don’t hesitate to chat with us if you have any questions!

Parking, Pick up & Drop off’s & Our Driveway

Important parking and safety information

We’d like to remind you that parking is at your own risk, as we currently do not have a designated parking area. For your convenience, you can find pick-up and drop-off parking layout photos on our Facebook page or website—stay tuned, as these will be available soon!

Dog safety first!

As many of our furry friends are often brought in and out of daycare off-lead, we kindly ask that you remain vigilant of your surroundings while on our driveway. Please remember that your dogs are your responsibility until they pass through our gates and once they leave.

Driveway access during playground hours

During the months when the playground paddock is in use, please note that our driveway gates may be closed from 9 AM to 3 PM. Don’t worry—we’ll still see you arrive during this time and will be there to greet you.

Driveway conditions

We’ve recently upgraded our long gravel driveway, which sees plenty of traffic from our wonderful customers and staff each day. However, it can be a bit temperamental in rainy weather, leading to some potholes. We’re committed to regular repairs, but we encourage everyone to drive cautiously to minimise pothole encounters and ensure everyone’s safety.

Just a quick note: the speed limit on our driveway is 10 km/h, as posted. Let’s keep it safe for everyone—thank you!

Doggy Daycare

As outlined in our daycare contracts, we strive to accommodate every furry friend in our care.

However, it’s important to remember that not every dog thrives in a daycare environment. If we have any concerns, rest assured we’ll communicate with you promptly. If daycare isn’t the perfect fit for your pup, there are plenty of alternatives to consider! Options like pack walks, one-on-one training, or private on-lead walks may be more suitable. If you’d like recommendations for services that best suit your dog’s needs, just ask!We take pride in our honesty policy and are committed to keeping you informed about any behavioral issues or concerns. We love chatting with all our dog parents about their pups’ progress and any challenges they may be facing. Remember, it’s a two-way street! Please share updates about your dog at home—any changes or experiences will help us understand them better, especially regarding medical or behavioral shifts. Thank you for being part of our community!

The inspiration behind Doggy Bed & Biscuit comes from my love for dogs and my Cavoodle, Louie.

Louie thrives on companionship—especially mine! I realized I had so much love to share, which is why I created a space where dogs can come together to make friends, play games, and enjoy each other’s company.
